PETG plastic gears are 22.3% and 37% more durable than PLA and ABS respectively
A new paper (Wear and Service Life of 3-D Printed Polymeric Gears) illustrates a study of PLA, ABS, and PETG used as gears under load. An excerpt from the paper: 3.2. Service Life of Polymeric Gears In order to determine the service life of the polymeric gears produced by the FDM method, the gears were operated at 900 rpm and 1.5 Nm load until damage occurred. The damage times and shapes of the gears are shown in Figures 7–9. Plastic gears are not resistant to high loads and temperature rises;... Lire plus...
Antique Spinning Wheels
Nearly since we started our little business, keeping antique spinning wheels spinning have been one of our pursuits. Currently, we provide bobbins for Baynes, Blue Bonnet and, Timbertops. I've gotten a great deal of information from NZ Spinning Wheels Info, a site that is just over flowing with information regarding spinning wheels made in New Zealand. I've also made great use of the "Wayback Machine" for the Timbertops and Blue Bonnet websites if you are looking for information on these wheels. Additionally if you are looking for bobbins for a wheel that is... Lire plus...

This cord maker comes with 10 bearings (each gear is supported by a bearing on each side), and a metal hex shaft for connecting to your motor/drill. I need to get video of the prototype in action. I've made an end block to wind from as well. I also made a new design for weaving nets, but this isn't a final design (I think). Sharah had been using a Cricut for cutting our packaging... HFS offered our help to a fellow business
Sharah and I really enjoy watching Hercules Candy creating their products on YouTube. While watching this livestream I saw their new streaming cart they set up. I saw they struggled witht he battery taking up room on the desk portion and, reached out to see if we could help them. I created a sturdy shelf to support the battery on the center post. That way it's under the desk and out of the way. We even did a timelapse of the shelf printing. HC posted their video! Lire plus...
