Use our Yarn Guides for Ball Winders to add tension to your ball winding, while leaving your non-winding hand free! Sharah recommends using at least 3 Guides at once, but you are welcome to add more!

Slide the open side of the hook onto your yarn winder arm.  Place the next hook so that the hook faces the opposite direction, above the first. Place the third hook so that the hook faces the same as the first. This will help your yarn to be guided up the arm. For very fine yarn, Sharah sometimes adds all 6. This set has been tested up to worsted weight. Bulky yarns may or may not work, attempt with scrap yarn to avoid problems!

Some winders have smaller diameter arms, but these can be used with a bit of washi tape to bulk up the arm thickness where you want to place the Guides. See video for details.
